Overlooking the rest of the Sun City complex, the Palace has a wonderful view of the entire goings on. Looking back towards the Palace, it has a dominating presence on the skyline. Wonderfully lit at night, it is a beacon of what can be attained if one sets your mind to it. From within African myth, the Palace depicts a make-believe world of supreme jungle, rocky cliff gardens, waterfalls and swimming pools.
When being confronted by the entrance for the first time, one is sure to be amazed by the freedom of thought when first designing a hotel of such magnitude. You are welcomed by a leaping herd of bronze antelope being pursued by a cheetah. Beyond the antelope and cheetah is a fountain of sable antelope, welcoming you to an unforgettable adventure. The reception area is adorned with mosaic on the floor, animal features on the wall and a hand-frescoed dome that at six story high is an impressive area.
Leading onto the dining area are two swooping stairways. The center of the dining area is dominated by three elephants squirting water from their trunks into the basin of the fountain. Down the passage is a detailed life size bronze sculpture of an African elephant. The Palace is supported by giant faux stone columns of bamboo that settle on an elephant’s foot. Leaping kudu's protrude from the turrets of the roof with the patient hunter, the leopard, seemingly uninterested in the commotion.
The 338 rooms are magnificent in their splendor with amenities such as air conditioning, TV, radio, safe, butler station, and many more. The King, African, Royal and Desert suites are individually decorated and are the epitome of luxury.
The Palace is truly one of the best hotels in the world.
