Simbithi Eco-Estate lies 30 minutes north of South Africa's third largest city, Durban, between Ballito and Salt Rock, on the Dolphin Coast.Simbithi was voted as the best new course in KwaZulu Natal in 2008 by Compleat Golfer. Not only was it rewarded for being an excellent modern golf course, but also for groundbreaking philosophy as far as golf estate development is concerned.

Simbithi is a natural, coastal paradise with dense, indigenous riverine vegetation, lush valley wetlands, undulating hills and distant, breathtaking vistas. And, in keeping with the natural wealth of the land, the developers have constructed a unique blend of large spacious plots, open spaces, grasslands, dams and indigenous forest, all set around something very new on the SA golfing landscape - an 18-hole 'executive' golf course. It's a simple idea: a golf course comprising an outward nine of seven par threes and a pair of fours, followed by a homeward loop of six par threes, two fours and a par five. With a variety of tees and sloping fairways cleverly constructed to maximise land usage for the full 18 holes, what really identifies the executive course is that it takes considerably less time to complete a round of golf than normal -without ever feeling 'cheated' by the length or difficulty of the course. According to designer Peter Matkovich, the objective of the course, is to "test a player's ability to use all the dubs in their bag, ". The result is a challenging, highly playable and extremely enjoyable golf course.
Simbithi is a delight to play even if it lacks the length of a typical 18 hole new development.
