Pearl Valley Golf Estate is located in the Franschoek valley, which is home to some of the most beautiful countryside in the Cape region. Franschoek is located an hour's scenic drive away from Cape Town. It is synonymous with great wine, delicious food, and now a great golfing estate thanks to Jack Nicklaus' signature golf course. The masterplan was shaped by Nicklaus' vision and his unique touch is evident.
This spectacular course provides one of the top golf experiences in South Africa – and one of the best in the world.
Pearl Valley Golf Course was recently rated the '5th Best Golf Course in South Africa,' by Golf Digest and received a '5 Star Golf Experience,' by Compleat Golfer.
In 2008 The South African Open - the second oldest open in the world, was hosted here. The event in 2007 attracted players such as Ernie Els, Trevor Immelman, Retief Goosen and Greg Norman.
Although no individual can lay claim to the overall design of Pearl Valley, the masterplan was shaped by the vision of Jack Nicklaus. His unique touch is evident at this estate. This golf legend sees the Pearl Valley course as the sum of his knowledge and his experience.
Traversed by roads in only three places, with an ingenious drainage system that allows play to continue just minutes after a severe cloudburst, the Pearl Valley Golf Estates' course is in a league of its own.
A combination of the intense colours of the greens and fairways, together with the brilliant white river sand lining the bunkers, was carefully planned, to make Pearl Valley Golf Estates the most visually spectacular golf course in the counttry. The bunkers are shallow, long and relatively undaunting.
Every hole is played against the spectacular backdrop of the mountains surrounding the estate and all are challenging due to the bunkers and fast greens. The course has been designed with the area’s prevailing winds in mind; the winter northwesterly and the summer southeasterly. All par-threes and par-fives play in different directions, ensuring that the same conditions are not experienced too many times in one round.
Not only is the Pearl Valley Golf Estate an ideal location for golfing, but it is also great for fly fishing with its many dams on the estate being stocked with trout & an abundance of water from the Berg River, which flanks the Pearl Valley Estate
